Description

The Margarethe Schauer Fund of the Protestant School Foundation in Central Germany St. Johannes supports nationwide non-profit educational initiatives of Protestant school communities through seed funding and flat-rate grants in the proven matching procedure (“Second Market”). The aim is to strengthen civic engagement for charitable and church-related purposes as well as to anchor sustainable learning concepts in schools and social environments. Projects that equally involve students, teachers, and volunteers and implement offerings in the areas of education, democratic coexistence, social responsibility, and education for sustainable development are supported. As non-profit grants, the funds contribute to initiating new undertakings or supporting one-time events. Applications can be submitted until December 31 of each year.

Prerequisites for funding are sponsorship by a Protestant school community of the School Foundation, alignment with non-profit, charitable, or church-related goals, as well as proof of additional own funds or third-party funds under the matching principle. Eligible expenses include personnel costs and material expenses, with decisions based on non-profit status, sustainable impact, strengthening civil society participation, and the matching concept. For the application, a detailed project description, a cost plan, and – upon completion of the project – a digital activity report (approx. 1,500 characters with photo) must be submitted. Beneficiaries will be informed by March 1 of the following year; there is no legal entitlement to funding. The fund is aimed at educational institutions wishing to implement social-diaconal initiatives, intercultural learning, intergenerational dialogues, student exchanges, or comparable programs.
