Description
Mathe.Entdecker makes mathematics tangible by linking real locations, objects, and architecture with interactive tasks in the MathCityMap app. Educators, learners, and interested individuals can be guided by GPS navigation to stations where geometric shapes, functional relationships, and combinatorial phenomena can be discovered and solved on site. The tasks are displayed in the app, checked through an integrated feedback system, and offer assistance upon request – thus creating a vibrant, extracurricular learning environment. The program is aimed nationwide at educational institutions, public and non-profit organizations, as well as private individuals who wish to create their own routes or use existing ones. The initiative promotes mathematical competence and inspires enthusiasm for numbers and structures beyond the classroom.
As a permanently available grant initiative, the Stiftung Rechnen relies on innovative concepts to strengthen arithmetic experiences in everyday life. The funding supports both the development of new discovery paths and their technical integration into the MathCityMap app. The goal is to establish extracurricular learning locations as a complement to classroom teaching and to sustainably inspire participants for mathematics. Sponsors from the educational sector can apply at any time and receive financial resources for the implementation of their projects. The non-profit foundation based in Hamburg has been committed since 2009 to promoting arithmetic skills in society and providing impulses for a confident approach to numbers.
