Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) in the State of Brandenburg in 2025

In the state of Brandenburg, a market support measure has been established for the year 2025 to provide financial relief to animal keepers for losses caused by foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). Funding is provided for demonstrably incurred damages to livestock as well as costs for disease control measures. The subsidy serves to compensate for stock losses and helps to secure the economic stability of agricultural enterprises. Funding applications can be submitted continuously, allowing affected businesses to receive compensation payments promptly. The measure is administered by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Consumer Protection (MLEUV) in cooperation with the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB).

Eligible to participate are companies with headquarters or operations in Brandenburg that have suffered significant damage due to FMD in 2025. As a prerequisite for approval, a detailed damage report and a valid operational certificate must be submitted. The fully completed application form must also be attached. Eligible expenses include both directly affected animals and costs for disease control measures. The measure sustainably supports agricultural enterprises and helps to reduce the risk of herd-related epidemics and ensure supply security in the region.
