Multipurpose Boat (MPB) for Oil Spill Response

The Free State of Bavaria provides municipalities and non-profit organizations in Bavaria with a continuously accessible grant for the procurement of multipurpose boats (MZB) for oil spill response. The aim is to specifically strengthen disaster control capacities through modern, standards-compliant equipment. Eligible for funding are the pure procurement costs for the multipurpose boat including the boat trailer according to DIN 14962 "Boats for Fire Departments." The state subsidy covers up to 100% of the expenses, up to a maximum of 95,000 euros. This is primarily intended to replace outdated disaster control boats procured in the early 1990s and to further improve operational readiness in the event of oil accidents.

Prerequisites for approval, in addition to proof of public or non-profit sponsorship, are the fulfillment of additional technical criteria according to DIN 14961 and DGUV Regulation 49. Applications are submitted continuously to the responsible government authorities in Bavaria and approved after formal examination. The basis is the Disaster Control Grant Act of the State Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration. A simple grant application is sufficient to activate the detailed guidelines and receive a funding notice. The measure is specifically aimed at Bavarian municipalities and voluntary aid organizations to sustainably expand innovation capacity in disaster control and increase safety on inland waterways.
