Description

Human Rights Award of the State of Carinthia has been honoring outstanding contributions to human rights work with a clear connection to Carinthia since 2014. Both Carinthians at home and abroad as well as initiatives and projects implemented locally are recognized. The aim is to highlight the importance of protective rights and to promote social engagement for democracy and social cohesion. The award positions itself as a prestigious recognition for public institutions, non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, as well as individuals who distinguish themselves through exemplary achievements.

Eligible to submit nominations are federal and state agencies, municipalities, interest groups, as well as natural and legal persons. Prerequisites for selection include a personal or factual connection to Carinthia and the timely submission of all documents to the Office of the Carinthian State Government, Department 1. A four-member expert jury evaluates the candidates based on the criteria of “outstanding achievements in human rights work” and “connection to Carinthia.” For nomination, the following must be submitted: details of the nominating and nominated person or institution (name, address), a brief description of the human rights work, proof of the connection to Carinthia, and a well-founded justification of the worthiness of the award. Supplementary information such as biographies or project documents may be attached as optional enclosures.
