Description
The funding program "Sustainable Urban Mobility for All" supports municipalities, municipal associations, and municipal companies in North Rhine-Westphalia in implementing future-proof, climate-friendly transport concepts. With a total of around €52 million from EU funds (ERDF) and state funds, packages of measures from municipal or regional mobility plans are funded, bundling at least two individual measures from the areas of infrastructure redesign, digital networking, and innovative mobility solutions. The focus is on reducing CO₂ emissions, improving air quality, and enhancing traffic safety according to the "Vision Zero" principle. The funding rate ranges between 80% and 90% of eligible expenses depending on the type of recipient, and applications can be submitted continuously via the EFRE.NRW online portal as long as budget funds are available.
Research and educational institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, associations, foundations, and chambers can also cooperate in consortia to develop interdisciplinary approaches. Selection is based on the contribution to climate protection and sustainability goals, the program priority of the ERDF/JTF, and the degree of innovation of the mobility measures. The aim is spatial and digital networking of all modes of transport, the redistribution of traffic areas in favor of safe pedestrian, bicycle, and public transport routes, as well as real-time control through intelligent data platforms. Thanks to the program’s modular structure, participants can respond flexibly to regional requirements while simultaneously making an active contribution to the transition to a CO₂-neutral transport world.
