Description

Within the framework of the EU-wide funding initiative “New or enhanced Innovative Advanced Materials (IAM) enabled sensing functionality (RIA),” consortia consisting of research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), industry, and public bodies are invited to develop novel materials for sensor technologies. The goal is to create highly sensitive, selective, reliable, and cost-efficient sensor solutions to be used in areas such as environmental and health monitoring as well as industrial surveillance. Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) are funded with a total budget of €7.5 million and a funding rate of 100%. Applicants must be registered in the EU Participant Register (PIC), have their headquarters in an EU Member State or associated country, and demonstrate financial and operational capacities in accordance with Horizon Europe guidelines. Beyond pure materials research, the consortia projects are also expected to address aspects of digitalization, energy efficiency, climate protection, and circular economy, as well as present a strategy for the exploitation and dissemination of results.

Interested consortia may submit project proposals until April 15, 2026. Personnel and material costs as well as subcontracting services are eligible for funding. Projects will be evaluated based on innovation content, exploitation potential, and quality and efficiency of implementation. For a successful application, in addition to the HE-RIA application form, budget tables, evaluation sheets, and the Lump Sum Model Grant Agreement must be submitted. The European Commission – specifically the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation – coordinates the program. Participating partners have the opportunity to jointly advance leading IAM-based sensor solutions in the European market, thereby making a significant contribution to strengthening competitiveness as well as to the digital and green transformation of Europe.
