Lower Austria Care and Support Voucher

The Lower Austria Care and Support Voucher is aimed at individuals in need of care who have their main residence in Lower Austria and receive care allowance from level 3 onwards (or levels 1/2 in cases of documented dementia or for minor recipients). A prerequisite for granting the funding is living in a private apartment or private house, as well as utilizing a free consultation on care and support either through the online application process or via the Lower Austria Care Hotline. Applications are submitted annually between January 1 and December 31 of a calendar year via an online form, with telephone applications accepted in exceptional cases. Initial applications are possible from October 2, 2023; funding is approved following a positive review of the eligibility criteria no later than December 31 of the respective year and paid out by bank transfer to the specified account.

With a one-time annual grant of 1,000 euros, the State of Lower Austria financially supports both individuals in need of care and their caregiving relatives, contributing to relief in the home environment. There is no legal entitlement; allocation is subject to available budgetary resources. A medical certificate proving dementia is only required for care allowance levels 1 or 2. Eligibility is verified through an automated cross-check with the Central Registration Register and the Care Information System. The Lower Austria Care and Support Voucher is not to be offset against other social assistance benefits and represents a straightforward direct subsidy that must be applied for anew each year.
