Description

The program supports the establishment and expansion of biomass heating plants as well as connected heating networks in the Free State of Bavaria with the aim of using renewable energies efficiently and significantly reducing CO₂ emissions in the building sector. Eligible to apply are municipal as well as private operators of biomass plants, planning offices, and public institutions that plan new construction, conversion, or connection to existing networks. The grant supports investments in biomass boilers, the construction of new network infrastructures, and the necessary planning and expert services. Continuous submission of funding applications allows flexible project planning without fixed deadlines.

Only investment costs are eligible for funding, while ongoing operating and fuel costs are excluded. The evaluation is based on the achievable CO₂ savings potential, the technical efficiency of the plant, as well as regional benefits and densification of the heating network. For a complete application submission, among other things, a detailed project description, an economic feasibility calculation, technical data sheets of the combustion system, and a site plan with proof of network routing must be provided. The target group consists of operators of biomass combustion plants who wish to align their energy concepts in a climate-friendly manner and strengthen Bavarian value chains. The funding program contributes to advancing climate protection and sustainable infrastructure planning and makes an important contribution to the energy transition in Bavaria.
