Description
The program promotes the expansion and modernization of biomass heating plants as well as the development of associated heat networks in Bavaria, aiming to utilize renewable energies and measurably reduce CO₂ emissions. Public institutions and companies receive an investment grant for the construction, expansion, or conversion of biomass heating plants, whereby only sustainable biomass according to defined guidelines may be used. In addition to the CO₂ savings potential, the evaluation particularly considers the economic viability of plant operation as well as innovation and sustainability aspects. Thus, the funding offer makes an important contribution to energy efficiency, climate protection, and future-proof infrastructure in the region.
Interested operators of municipal or commercial facilities, including energy supply companies and small to medium-sized enterprises, benefit from a transparent application procedure with continuous submission opportunities. Eligible expenses include investment costs for new or expanded heating plants, construction measures for heat networks, as well as necessary planning and expert costs. Ongoing operating costs or retroactively incurred expenses are not reimbursed. For the application, a fully completed form, a technical project description, an economic feasibility calculation, and proof of biomass sustainability must be submitted. The grant is provided by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy in cooperation with the Technology and Support Centre (TFZ).
