Description
The Free State of Bavaria supports the future-oriented expansion of public local passenger transport through public transport infrastructure funding under BayGVFG. Funding is provided for construction projects and expansion measures of tram and subway lines, stops, interchange facilities, depots, as well as refueling and charging infrastructure for alternative drives. Additionally, barrier-free modifications and pathway connections can be subsidized until 31.12.2026. Grants are available to public institutions, municipal special-purpose associations, and private as well as public companies, provided that the measures serve to improve public transport in Bavaria and are anchored in a general transport plan or an equivalent plan. Funding is granted as a project-related subsidy in the form of proportional or fixed-amount financing, without fixed submission deadlines.
A prerequisite for approval is detailed planning that takes into account economic and technical standards, coordination with urban development concerns, as well as comprehensive consideration of accessibility and mobility impairments. The project must be urgently necessary, not yet legally commenced, and financially secured. For the application, among other documents, a completed grant application (Form 1a), an explanatory report on the improvement of traffic conditions, local transport or equivalent plans, cost estimates, statements from the public transport authority, as well as proof of own funds and hearings in accordance with BayGVFG must be submitted. The complete application must be submitted to the responsible government authority. Further details on funding rates and required documents can be found in the guidelines according to BayGVFG and RZÖPNV.
