Description

Within the framework of "victim protection-oriented perpetrator work," the Federal Ministry of the Interior in Vienna funds projects of non-profit organizations that support men exhibiting violent behavior in the family in implementing advanced training programs following violence prevention counseling. The goal is the sustainable improvement of the situation for women, children, and other affected relatives through the consistent reduction of violent behaviors. Funding is directed at institutions that develop specialized concepts for different age and target groups and implement violence protection concepts in close coordination with experts in victim support. The measures include, among others, training on non-violent communication strategies, networking with counseling centers, as well as the development of monitoring tools for success evaluation. By continuously submitting applications – at least three months before the project start – flexibility is ensured and timely project commencement is secured.

Personnel and material costs, travel expenses, and training expenditures are funded at 100%, while investments in real estate, retroactive costs, or debt repayment are excluded. Funding applications must be submitted using the form provided by the BMI, whereby the quality of the training, relevance to the target group, and demonstrated experience in perpetrator work constitute essential evaluation criteria. Applicants must submit a detailed project plan including objectives, timeline, and financial overview. Selection is conducted through a transparent review process; after project completion, the use of funds is audited in the form of a factual and numerical report. Funded projects make a central contribution to violence protection and help reduce domestic violence in Vienna.
