Description

A personnel cost subsidy in Upper Austria promotes the employment of additional educational specialists and assistants in kindergartens for children aged three to six. The aim of this funding is to optimize the caregiver-to-child ratio to a maximum of 1:10 and to extend opening hours according to VIF standards. This includes at least 45 hours per week, spread over at least four days with 9.5 hours each day, and a year-round offer of at least 47 weeks including catering. Only personnel costs are funded to ensure needs-based care and reliable care times. The measure runs from 01.09.2022 to 31.08.2027 and supports a forward-looking quality improvement in early childhood education care.

Eligible for funding are legal entities of kindergartens in Upper Austria, such as municipalities, associations, parishes, religious communities, individuals, and companies. A prerequisite is the deployment of qualified educational specialists or assistants to improve the caregiver-to-child ratio or to ensure VIF-compliant opening hours. Applications must be submitted before the start of the measure via the KBEweb system; exact deadlines and details are announced annually by circular. The following documents must be attached: a completed application for personnel cost subsidy including the form supplement sheet with detailed information on the personnel and care situation as well as the opening hours.
