Description
The Kleine Helden Foundation supports nursing-accompanied stays in Bavaria for chronically ill and disabled children as well as their families at the idyllic Irmengard-Hof on Lake Chiemsee. In cooperation with the Björn Schulz Foundation, 8–10-day recreational, follow-up, and encounter stays are offered, during which qualified pediatric nurses provide around-the-clock care and professional support. In the 27 mostly wheelchair-accessible double and family apartments, children, parents, and siblings regain new strength in a carefree environment. A team trained in education and psychology provides targeted psychosocial services if needed, while the spacious outdoor area with a playground and bathing spot invites everyone to relax together.
The program is aimed at private individuals with chronically ill or multiply disabled children—including tracheostomy patients, children with feeding tubes, severe metabolic disorders, anorectal malformations, or rare, not clearly diagnosed conditions. Applications can be submitted continuously and require proof of the medical diagnosis as well as the completed admission form. Participating families pay a moderate co-payment according to their income; additional costs can be covered through respite care. The funding sustainably supports psychosocial relief and strengthens family cohesion in challenging life situations.
