Description
The Social Fund Vienna (FSW) supports people with mobility impairments in the city of Vienna with grants for disability-adapted car modifications, the acquisition of guide dogs for the blind, as well as the purchase and individual adaptation of bicycles. Only measures that serve to compensate for disability-related limitations and social rehabilitation are funded. The amount of support – up to €15,000 per application for car adaptations and guide dogs, up to €2,500 for new bicycles, and up to €1,250 for their adaptation within five years – is determined by the FSW after reviewing the eligibility criteria and individual assessment. Funds can be applied for online at any time through the FSW; the application must be supplemented with proof of disability, current income statements, a cost estimate or invoice, as well as an official photo ID, registration certificate, and proof of citizenship. A deductible is determined individually based on total income.
Applicants eligible for this funding are people with permanent physical or sensory impairments who require special mobility aids to ensure their participation in everyday life. Fundable measures include, in addition to automatic clutch, brake, and steering adjustments, the installation of wheelchair mounts, entry aids, and hand controls. Guide dogs can be financed following a professional suitability assessment. For bicycles, tricycles, tandems, or recumbent bikes are supported if the adaptation represents a significant mobility improvement. Multiple funding is possible for new purchases or replacement of unusable aids, provided no equivalent existing support is available. The funding requires timely notification of any changes in personal or financial circumstances. There is no legal entitlement; approval is granted according to the guidelines and available funds.
