Description
The Foundation for Science and Democracy, together with the German Political Science Association, awards the outstanding political science monographs every two years with the prize "The Political Science Book," endowed with €2,000. The aim of this award is to strengthen the visibility and quality of political science research, to honor excellent scientific achievements, and to promote the exchange between science, politics, and society. Special recognition is given to works that not only open up new insights for the discipline but also contribute to societal discourse and support the transfer of political science knowledge into political decision-making processes and public debates.
Eligible to participate are editors and authors of political science monographs, particularly scholars and researchers at universities as well as individuals working in political science. A prerequisite is the submission of a published monograph with a recognizable thematic contribution to the advancement of knowledge in political science, as well as an open interest in knowledge transfer to politics and society. Evaluation is based on three central criteria: the advancement of knowledge for the discipline, the scholarly relevance beyond subfields, and the potential for societal transfer. Application documents include the title page and table of contents, a curriculum vitae of the authors, and a brief explanation of the contribution potential to scholarly progress. The next call for applications will be announced in due time—interested parties will thus regularly have the opportunity to bring outstanding publications into public awareness.
