Private Primary and Secondary Schools; Application for a Grant for School Expenses

Private primary and middle schools in Bavaria, operated by non-profit legal entities under public or private law and approved by school supervisory authorities, can apply for lump-sum grants for necessary school expenses. The aim of the funding is to relieve school sponsors of personnel and material costs and thereby sustainably ensure the quality of education. A prerequisite for funding is that the institution has existed for at least two school years without significant objections and has at least 14 enrolled students. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing sponsors to plan their finances flexibly.

All expenses serving the necessary school operations are eligible for funding, particularly personnel and material costs. The following documents are required for the application: the completed application form, proof of non-profit status, the approval notice from the competent government authority, and, if applicable, additional evidence. The processing of the lump-sum benefits is carried out centrally by the Bavarian State Office for Schools. The basis is the Bavarian School Financing Act (Art. 32 BaySchFG). With this continuously available grant option, the State Ministry for Education and Culture supports non-profit sponsors in operating private substitute schools sustainably and reliably.
