Description

The program funding of the German AIDS Foundation supports non-profit organizations and public institutions nationwide that initiate educational, prevention, and health promotion projects related to HIV, AIDS, and STIs. Particular focus is placed on measures that reach people with limited access to the healthcare system. Funding is provided for innovative approaches to knowledge transfer, early detection, and sustainable health promotion for HIV-positive individuals as well as particularly vulnerable target groups. The funding is granted in the form of subsidies, covering both initial funding and start-up financing as well as program-related material and fee costs. A co-financing contribution is generally required to ensure cooperative financing.

Applications can be submitted at any time by associations of independent welfare organizations, counseling centers, and similar non-profit entities, as well as public institutions such as health departments. The necessary application documents include a completed program/project application, detailed information about the organization, and a cost and financing plan. Upon receipt of the application, a prompt confirmation is issued; for funding amounts up to 4,000 euros, processing usually occurs within a short timeframe, while larger amounts are decided in the following quarter. Finally, a usage report must be submitted, accompanied by public relations materials that support the Foundation in its fundraising efforts. This flexible funding scheme offers grantees the opportunity to implement individual projects to strengthen HIV prevention and care sustainably and to achieve lasting impact.
