Description

Within the framework of progres.nrw, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia promotes innovative investments in energy-efficient heating and cooling network systems. Companies with headquarters or operations in NRW can apply for grants of up to 70% of eligible expenses, provided the project has not yet commenced. Funding is provided for the construction, expansion, modernization, and densification of networks as well as associated facilities for the extraction of waste heat from industrial processes, geothermal energy, mine water, or waste incineration. Thermal storage systems, underground pipeline installations, and innovative measurement, control, and regulation (MSR) systems with a high multiplier effect are also supported. The objective of the measure is a noticeable increase in energy efficiency, a significant climate protection impact, and the implementation of legal requirements in accordance with the Heat Planning Act.

Eligible expenses include, in addition to pipeline networks, conversion work from steam to hot or warm water networks, connection profiles between existing networks, as well as studies for new construction, expansion, and conversion projects. Planning, repair, and replacement measures, as well as legally mandated measures, are excluded. A prerequisite for receiving funding is obtaining public-law approvals prior to grant approval and carrying out the project within NRW. Applications can be submitted to the Arnsberg District Government until June 30, 2027.
