Project Funding by the Bayreuth Citizens' Foundation – City and Country
The Bayreuth Citizens' Foundation – City and Country supports non-profit initiatives in Bayreuth and the surrounding area with partial or, in exceptional cases, full grants. Eligible projects come from the fields of education, children and youth, culture, research & innovation, environmental and nature conservation, monument protection, sports, disaster relief, health, commitment to social cohesion and democracy, vocational training & continuing education, as well as work & social affairs. Applicants – including associations, foundations, educational institutions, cooperatives, companies, or private individuals – must provide proof of non-profit status and demonstrate a clear regional connection. Funding is provided for personnel expenses, material costs, project materials, and public relations; mandatory tasks of the state and municipality are excluded. Decisions are made by committees meeting twice a year, consisting of the foundation board and advisory council, who assess applications based on sustainability, benefit to the common good, degree of innovation, strengthening of disadvantaged groups, as well as model and exemplary character.
Application and Award Procedure
Applications can be submitted by mail at any time; awards are granted in semi-annual sessions. Required are a completed funding application, proof of non-profit status, a detailed project description, a financing plan, and evidence of own funds. Applicants must demonstrate how the overall project is financed and which partners are involved. Additionally, they commit to providing proof of use and a results report upon request. The foundation preferably funds start-up financing and one-time measures but reserves the right to grant multi-year funding in exceptional cases. This transparent and inclusive structure promotes innovative thinking, civic engagement, and sustainable impact to strengthen the common good in the region in the long term.
