Description
The project funding of the Bürgerstiftung Bremen is aimed at non-profit associations, interest groups, and initiatives in Bremen that implement predominantly volunteer-driven projects. Funding is provided for projects in diverse areas such as child and youth welfare, social and educational services, science and innovation, sports, environmental and nature conservation, as well as neighborhood assistance. The focus is on initiatives that strengthen social cohesion in city districts, promote coexistence of cultures and generations, expand civic responsibility and participation, and support courageous civil action. Applications can be submitted continuously, with ongoing review ensuring a prompt decision by the foundation’s board. Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant, with no personnel or overhead costs considered.
A prerequisite for funding is a tangible impact on the community as well as an innovative, creative project approach aimed at transparency and sustainability. Cooperation with networks and partner organizations is equally required, as is a solid cost calculation in accordance with Section 58 of the German Fiscal Code. The application must include a detailed project description, a comprehensive cost and financing plan, and, upon project completion, a proof of use. Thus, the Bürgerstiftung not only provides financial support but also offers consultation and networking opportunities upon request. This funding framework offers Bremen-based actors the opportunity to realize diverse, common-good-oriented ideas and thereby create long-term added value for the urban society.
