Description

The project funding of the foundation “Wegzeichen – Lebenszeichen – Glaubenszeichen” supports the construction, renovation, and restoration of small religious monuments in the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart. The aim is to preserve field crosses, wayside shrines, chapels, and similar testimonies of Christian culture, as well as to strengthen their religious and cultural significance in the public sphere. The foundation grants a flat-rate subsidy of up to 50% of the eligible costs, whereby an equal amount of own contribution must be provided. Only projects that are not already completed before the application is submitted and whose artistic as well as devotional-historical appropriateness is demonstrated are eligible for funding. Special consideration is given to projects that are sustainably integrated into local religious practice.

Eligible applicants are non-profit organizations, private individuals, and public institutions such as church parishes or municipalities that own a small monument in the aforementioned diocese. Applications can be submitted on March 15, June 15, and September 15 and must include a detailed cost and financing plan, a schedule, quotes or cost estimates, as well as an object description with photographic material. Prior consultation with the responsible lower monument protection authority is recommended before applying. Evaluation is based on artistic quality, integration into faith practice, completeness of financing documents, and proof of the required own contribution. Applications are concluded after a positive decision with a final accounting, after which the subsidy is paid out.
