Since 2008, the Johannes Bugenhagen Foundation has been strengthening church life in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Guided by the principles of the reformer Johannes Bugenhagen, the foundation supports innovative projects in the areas of pastoral care, proclamation, instruction, mission, and ecumenism. Eligible recipients are non-profit organizations and public institutions of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District, which intensify the dissemination of the Gospel through creative formats – ranging from open-air nativity plays to musical projects and educational events. Funding covers personnel as well as material and operational costs, including expenses for event organization. Retrospective costs and salaries outside of project personnel are excluded.
Applications may be submitted at any time. A prerequisite is affiliation with the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District as well as the implementation of a project within the specified funding priorities. Selection criteria include the degree of innovation, relevance to congregational work, and the effectiveness of public relations. The application must include the application form, the statutes of the applicant, and a proof of fund utilization. Funding is provided as a grant, with no fixed deadlines, ensuring continuous allocation of resources. In this way, the Johannes Bugenhagen Foundation makes a sustainable contribution to enabling church initiatives and congregations to effectively realize their missionary and diaconal objectives.
