Description

The Rudolf Augstein Foundation supports nationwide nonprofit initiatives that implement pilot projects aimed at improving the life prospects of disadvantaged children and adolescents. Funded are projects that impart self-help skills to young people—regardless of origin, gender, or socioeconomic background—provide long-term support, and particularly strengthen the transition from school to work or advance integration processes. The focus is on model projects that achieve sustainable impact, initiate structural changes, and actively involve those affected in decision-making processes. The foundation evaluates applications based on criteria such as effectiveness, significance for child welfare, expertise of the applicants, as well as gender equity and empowerment of girls and young women. Continuous, individualized support of participants is as relevant for funding as the potential to transfer and permanently establish exemplary approaches.

Applications can be submitted at any time without deadline restrictions. Eligible for funding are exclusively organizations recognized as nonprofit with projects in Germany that specifically target disadvantaged children and adolescents. Excluded are, among others, construction and renovation projects, the production and distribution of learning materials, travel, studies, or projects abroad. As part of the application process, a one-page project outline, a detailed funding application via the digital form, a content and objectives overview, and a financing plan must be submitted. Upon receipt, projects are generally reviewed within twelve weeks. The Rudolf Augstein Foundation offers preliminary application consultations to clarify eligibility and make the process transparent.
