Description

The Raiffeisen Foundation supports outstanding doctoral dissertations with nationwide open doctoral scholarships that have a direct connection to rural cooperative systems as well as to topics in agricultural and food economics, economics, politics, or law. The scientific work is funded for a period of up to 24 months with a monthly grant of €1,000. Additionally, travel and material expense subsidies may be granted upon request. Submission of documents can be made informally in German at any time, ensuring high flexibility regarding project start and planning.

Applicants considered are particularly qualified doctoral candidates who are admitted to a doctoral program at a public or state-recognized German university and whose project is accompanied by an expert opinion from their supervising university faculty. Alongside the academic CV with certificates, a scientific concept of the dissertation, a financial plan, proof of additional funding in case of partial financing, and information on parallel applications to other institutions must be included. Selection is based on clear evaluation criteria, including academic qualification, quality of the concept, relevance to the cooperative system and sustainability, as well as assurance of overall financing.
