Description

The spatial planning funding of the State of Lower Austria specifically supports public-law municipalities in investments in municipal and regional infrastructure projects. The focus is on measures that, on the one hand, improve basic facilities such as administrative buildings, fire stations, or community centers, and on the other hand, expand leisure, cultural, and communication offerings. Sports and recreational facilities, cultural event venues, as well as measures to optimize transport infrastructure are also among the eligible projects. Only municipalities in Lower Austria are addressed, which include the planned projects in the respective financial budget and incorporate the eligible measures in the applicable guidelines. Applications are to be submitted in writing in an informal manner in the year of implementation and can be repeated annually for multi-year projects.

The allocation is made as a non-repayable grant with a variable funding amount, which depends on the spatial planning and overall economic significance, the investment volume, the geographic and economic situation of the municipality, as well as the available budgetary resources. The evaluation particularly considers the importance of the project for spatial planning, the macroeconomic effects, and the regional framework conditions. For the application submission, a project description, proof of investment from the municipal budget, a financing plan, and evidence of financial necessity must be provided. Additional documents may be requested if needed. The funding aims to achieve a sustainable strengthening of municipal infrastructure that promotes the common good and contributes to regional development.
