Reference Funding for Vienna Arthouse Cinemas

The reference funding from the City of Vienna Culture is aimed at Viennese arthouse cinemas and supports cinema operations that, in accordance with the funding guidelines, dedicate at least 50% of their previous year's program to sophisticated film series. As a direct grant measure, it annually funds locations with up to four screens and a maximum of 1,500 seats that can demonstrate regular operations on at least 250 days within the calendar year. The funds are awarded annually within the framework of the budget and serve to sustainably strengthen the vibrant film culture offering in Vienna. Applicant companies benefit from a transparent procedure without fixed submission deadlines, which has been continuously available since January 1, 2017.

Eligible are legal entities, registered partnerships, as well as sole proprietorships based in Vienna with a valid cinema license. Submission requires a fully completed online application, accompanied by the declaration of consent according to the funding guidelines and all required program documentation. Processing is carried out via the online form of the City of Vienna Culture (MA 7), which, in addition to the application, provides details on financial planning and attachment management. Due to the flexible submission option without deadline constraints, interested applicants can submit their application at any time and benefit from a fair, inclusive allocation.
