Description

The Goethe-Institut nationwide funds travel expenses for emerging and amateur ensembles as well as choirs planning a music project abroad, provided they can demonstrate above-average musical achievements. A grant is applied for the most economical travel cost option as well as for additional expenses incurred by sustainable means of transport such as train travel. Only projects with at least three events (concerts, workshops, or panels) that enable significant artistic exchange on site and have cultural-political relevance for the host country are supported. Full funding is excluded: own contributions and additional funding sources from public or private funds must be demonstrated.

Requirements for an application include a completed application form, a detailed project description, a current audio sample, and a self-presentation of the ensemble including the resume of the director. Additionally, a concrete schedule and timeline, a concert program, an official confirmation from the cooperation partner abroad with a precise description of services, two cost estimates, as well as a consecutively numbered participant list are required. Applications can be submitted at any time but must be received at least three months before the project start. Selection criteria include not only musical quality but also the coherence of program design, the extent of artistic participation, and the integration of sustainability criteria. The funding program is explicitly aimed at interest groups and associations wishing to expand their concert activities and workshops in an international context and thereby contribute to the global networking of the German music scene.
