Description

The Ernst von Siemens Art Foundation continuously supports ambitious restoration projects in Germany for outstanding works of fine art, applied art objects, ancient manuscripts, and inventory catalogs in public museums, libraries, and exhibition venues. As an unbureaucratic grant provider, the foundation supports substantial measures aimed at preserving significant cultural assets whose scientific and artistic value is of particular importance. Applications can be submitted at any time; a detailed project description including a cost plan and restoration concept forms the basis for a prompt review. This enables institutions throughout Germany to benefit from additional funding for material, personnel, and restoration costs, thereby securing the authenticity and longevity of their collections.

Public institutions and non-profit organizations submit their applications through a comprehensive application process, which, in addition to the detailed restoration concept, also includes a transparent cost breakdown, an object list, and proof of the respective institution. Approval is based on the urgency of the measure, the supraregional significance of the work, and a professionally convincing presentation of the approach. The goal is to preserve significant cultural assets in the long term and to scientifically process them—from planning to professional execution by qualified specialists. In this way, the funding makes a substantial contribution to making valuable collections accessible to future generations.
