Description
The 2026 guidelines of the State of Burgenland promote the comprehensive renovation of Burgenland owner-occupied homes whose building permit dates back at least 20 years. Funding is provided for energy-efficient modernizations, the expansion of existing shell constructions, as well as the creation of additional living space through extensions or conversions. The funding is granted in the form of a non-repayable purchase bonus, provided as a non-repayable grant. The basic funding is based on the usable living area and energy indicators (heating demand or overall energy efficiency factor) and can be increased by bonus amounts such as child increment, social surcharge, accessibility, land-saving construction, municipalities with population decline, as well as roof and facade greening. The funding amount may not exceed 70% of the total construction costs. To achieve a high ecological standard, a highly efficient alternative energy system must be installed.
Applicants must be natural persons with permanent main residence in Burgenland, who have lived in Austria for at least two years and earn income subject to Austrian income tax. Household income must not exceed fixed upper limits (e.g., €88,000 for five persons), and the property to be funded must serve as the applicants’ main residence after completion of the renovation. Applications can be submitted from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026. Required documents include, among others, the fully completed application form, building permit with construction plan, an energy certificate including ecological indicator, proof of income, a municipal confirmation, and evidence of bonus measures (e.g., invoices, site plan).
