Guidelines for Grants from the Free State of Bavaria for the Promotion of Municipal Fire Services (FwZR)

The Free State of Bavaria grants public institutions state subsidies to strengthen municipal fire services. Municipalities receive financial support for the initial and replacement procurement of fire engines and equipment, as well as for the expansion of specialized infrastructure such as hose maintenance facilities, breathing apparatus workshops, and training facilities. The construction of new training buildings is also funded. The goal is to sustainably secure and further develop the operational capability of fire brigades in defensive fire protection and technical assistance services in accordance with the Bavarian Fire Service Act. These continuously available funds enable significant investments in modern equipment and training facilities to prepare emergency personnel optimally for future challenges.

Eligible for funding are municipalities in Bavaria that fulfill their mandatory duties in fire protection and technical assistance services. A prerequisite for an application is proof of necessity and cost-effectiveness of the planned measure, as well as a professional statement from the responsible district or city fire chief or the head of the professional fire brigade. Applications can be submitted at any time through the respective government authority, using the forms required for application according to the Fire Service Funding Guidelines (FwZR). The evaluation particularly considers suitability for municipal mandatory tasks and the cost-effectiveness of the measures. With this targeted funding, the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration strengthens operational readiness and local safety, contributing to equipping Bavarian municipalities optimally for disaster and fire protection.
