Funding objective
Promotion of investments to increase the share of renewable energies in energy consumption in Saxony through the construction and expansion of photovoltaic systems, decentralized energy storage, geothermal heat pumps, and heat/cold storage.
Eligible expenses
- Installation or expansion of photovoltaic systems (30 kWp to 1 MWp)
- Installation, replacement, or expansion of decentralized stationary electricity storage systems
- Installation of electrically operated geothermal heat pumps
- Installation or expansion of heat/cold storage systems
Non-eligible expenses
- Photovoltaic systems with EEG funding
- Installations on agriculturally used land (arable land/grassland)
- Self-built systems, prototypes, and used systems
- Construction investments in non-permissible flood or inundation areas

Funding requirements
- Implementation of the project in the Free State of Saxony
- Utilization of an investment loan from SAB corresponding to the eligible expenses
- Compliance with the technical requirements according to the EEG and funding guidelines

- Observance of the binding periods (5 years for photovoltaic and electricity storage, 12 years for geothermal heat pumps and heat/cold storage)

Description
SAB Sachsenkredit “Energy and Storage” supports companies, private individuals, and public institutions in the Free State of Saxony with low-interest loans including repayment grants for investments in renewable energies and storage technologies. Eligible are the construction or expansion of photovoltaic systems (30 kWp to 1 MWp), stationary electricity storage, electrically operated geothermal heat pumps, as well as heat and cold storage. The loan amount ranges from 35,000 to 5,000,000 euros, with the repayment grant amounting to 10% to 20% of eligible expenses depending on the measure. A prerequisite for approval is compliance with technical requirements according to the EEG and funding guidelines, as well as, in the case of lease or rental agreements, written consent from the owners.
The program aims to significantly increase the share of renewable energies in Saxony’s energy consumption and to strengthen decentralized climate protection. Natural and legal persons under public and private law, including freelancers, homeowners’ associations, SMEs, and municipalities, can submit applications continuously. Required alongside the SAB investment loan are the forms for the SAB credit declaration, SME assessment, de minimis declaration, and proof of use. Additionally, the binding periods of five years for photovoltaic and electricity storage and twelve years for geothermal and heat/cold storage must be observed. This financing offer provides a practical contribution to regional value creation, promotes supply security, and reduces CO₂ emissions.
