Description
The SäLa-BNE program supports micro and small projects of non-profit associations in the Free State of Saxony that implement educational work in the sense of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Eligible to apply are registered associations based in Saxony whose project activities take place exclusively within this federal state. With an annual funding volume of up to 100,000 euros, the North-South Bridges Foundation, on behalf of the Saxon State Ministry of Education, supports initiatives in one of the six educational areas of the Saxon state strategy for ESD: daycare, schools, vocational education, universities, non-formal and informal lifelong learning, as well as municipal education. Particular focus is placed on projects in rural areas and measures for training educational multipliers such as educators, teachers, and representatives of municipal educational work. The funded activities contribute to achieving measurable progress by 2030 on the path toward sustainable thinking and action.
The selection criteria emphasize the concrete contribution to the Saxon state strategy for ESD, implementation in one of the six defined educational areas, as well as sustainable impact in rural regions and among multipliers. Non-profit associations can submit applications until December 31 of each year. The requested funding amount is granted as a subsidy and can cover individual project phases or overall concepts of educational initiatives. By focusing on small project structures, SäLa-BNE offers a low-threshold entry opportunity for associations wishing to develop innovative, participatory, and future-oriented educational formats. Thus, the funding actively contributes to strengthening competencies for sustainable action across all age groups and target audiences.
