Description

The SäLa-BNE program supports registered, non-profit associations based in the Free State of Saxony in implementing small projects aligned with the Saxon State Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development. Within a project duration of up to twelve months, initiatives can be realized across six educational sectors – from early childhood care through general education schools, vocational training, and universities to non-formal learning and municipal educational offerings. Funded activities include, for example, workshops, excursions, training for multipliers, and the development of educational materials. A fixed-amount funding of up to €6,000 per project is available, which may be used for accommodation, meals, travel and transportation costs, material and personnel expenses, fees, volunteer allowances, as well as administrative costs. However, individual purchases without an accompanying educational purpose or purely cultural activities without an ESD reference are not eligible. Project planning must adhere to the objectives of the state strategy, comply with the Beutelsbach Consensus, and ensure a multiperspective involvement of the target groups.

The application process is continuously open: for projects starting in 2025, the deadline for postal and electronic submission is November 20, 2025, at the latest; for projects from 2026 onward, applications can be submitted without fixed deadlines. The funding application includes the application form, a detailed project description, an income and expenditure plan, as well as association documents (extract from the association register, statutes, tax exemption certificate). The decision is based on substantive criteria such as the contribution to the state strategy for ESD, the educational character, target group involvement, and evidence of impact objectives. The measure is supported by tax funds from the Saxon State Ministry of Education and aims to measurably advance sustainable thinking and action in Saxony.
