Writing Competitions of the Stiftung Handschrift – Förderung des Schreibens e. V.

The Handschrift Foundation – Promotion of Writing e. V. annually initiates changing writing competitions in Hesse for school classes in grades 6 and 7 of all school types. Within a regular lesson, participants write handwritten essays or letters on a given topic. An independent jury of experts awards the best submissions and publishes selected texts in a printed anthology. Through varied themes, ranging from “Freedom!” to “Courage” to “Happiness at School!”, creative forms of expression are encouraged and diverse perspectives made visible.

With this funding offer, the foundation aims to sustainably strengthen handwriting and writing skills. School classes register via a teacher and only need to submit the handwritten contribution to be eligible to participate. The initiative supports, alongside reflective ability and expressive strength, above all the joy of analog writing. As a grant program, registration opportunities are continuously open, with each call specifying its own deadlines and themes. Educational institutions benefit not only from an inspiring competition experience but also contribute to fostering structured thinking processes and social integration through practiced handwriting.
