Description

The nationwide funding program “Student Free Travel in Occasional Transport” supports public institutions and educational providers in organizing and financing student transportation between their domestic residence and the attended school. Eligible for funding are municipalities and school authorities who independently carry out the transport services for students under 24 years of age and bear the associated costs. The aim is to strengthen the burden-sharing between parents with maintenance obligations and childless individuals and to ensure equal opportunities in the education sector. Only those municipalities and school authorities whose students have not yet reached the age of 24 at the beginning of the school year and whose trips take place in occasional transport are eligible to apply.

The funding is granted as a non-repayable subsidy and has an annual total volume of 14.8 million euros. Applications can be submitted continuously to the Federal Chancellery – Section VI Family and Youth. Eligible costs include all expenses related to the transportation of students in occasional transport. This continuous funding offer provides financial relief for municipalities and school authorities and promotes sustainable mobility solutions for children and young people. Further details on the application process and funding requirements can be obtained from the Federal Chancellery; there is no deadline for submissions.
