Description
The program "School Assistance, Bgld ChG" supports students with disabilities in Burgenland by covering disability-related additional costs for qualified support in everyday school life. The goal is to enable attendance at a public compulsory school and to ensure an education corresponding to the individual’s performance capacity. A specially appointed school assistant provides pedagogical and organizational support that would not be possible or only partially possible without this funding. The necessity, scope, and maximum available hours are determined by a specialist commission in accordance with the guidelines of the Burgenland Equal Opportunities Act.
Eligible are all private individuals with a confirmed disability who attend a public compulsory school in Burgenland and require additional support during lessons or breaks. Only the documented costs for school assistance hours, reimbursed after official approval, are funded. Applications can be submitted at any time on an ongoing basis to the State Department for Social Services and Disability Affairs. The department reviews the funding prerequisites – presence of a disability and school attendance in Burgenland – and issues the grant approval. In doing so, the State of Burgenland makes a significant contribution to inclusive education and equitable participation of children and young people with impairments.
