Description

The continuously available funding measure supports students at medical-technical schools (MTF) as well as at schools for medical assistant professions throughout Austria through subsidies for school, accommodation, and travel costs. Funding is provided to individuals in accordance with the Student Grant Act 1983 to enable equal opportunities in education within the social and healthcare sectors. The goal is to reduce the financial burden during training and further education, thereby contributing to ensuring high-quality, comprehensive healthcare provision. The grants cover monthly lump sums for attending the educational institution, accommodation outside the primary residence, and necessary travel between lodging and school.

Eligible applicants are all students undergoing training in the medical-technical specialist service or medical assistant professions who attend a school in Austria for this purpose. A prerequisite for the application is proof of enrollment at a corresponding educational institution. Since applications can be submitted at any time, there is no fixed deadline, allowing flexible accommodation of individual training paths. The administration is the responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, Section VI. The subsidy provides immediate relief for beneficiaries regarding ongoing costs, while the Ministry transparently documents the effectiveness of the measure through annual disbursements and regularly adjusts it.
