School Route Safety Days

School Route Safety Days enable creative and eye-catching actions around schools and kindergartens to raise awareness among drivers and residents about compliance with traffic rules such as 30 km/h zones. Organizers can be non-profit organizations, public institutions, or private individuals; applications are accepted at any time. The focus is on schoolchildren, kindergarten children, and their accompanying persons, as well as local volunteers, municipalities, and educational institutions who, together with experts on site, identify hazardous spots and generate attention through media work. Awareness is heightened and safety on school routes is sustainably strengthened through poster campaigns, speed displays, and neighborhood information.

The program promotes a societal dialogue and creates participation opportunities ranging from hazard site inspections to individual prevention. With a temporally flexible grant model, the German Foundation for Value-Oriented Action supports projects nationwide. The goal is to reduce accident rates and foster social cohesion through local initiatives and public awareness measures. Committed initiators contribute to ensuring that rules are not only understood but also practiced in everyday life, thereby making an important contribution to the protection of vulnerable road users.
