Description
The Pregnancy Assistance of the Thuringian HandinHand Foundation offers expectant mothers in Thuringia who are in financial distress uncomplicated financial grants for essential purchases. Funding is provided, among other things, for maternity clothing, baby equipment, and the furnishing of the nursery to enable a worry-free preparation for the birth. A prerequisite for the grant is proof of residence in Thuringia as well as economic need demonstrated through income statements, notices according to SGB II/XII or the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act, and a confirmation of the individual life situation. The actual use of the funds must be documented by purchase receipts, contracts, and subsequently by submitting the birth certificate.
Applications can be submitted continuously before delivery exclusively through recognized pregnancy counseling centers, where the respective counseling professional reviews all required documents – including the completed application form, copies of the maternity record as well as the identity card or passport, income and rent proofs – and forwards them to the foundation. There is no legal entitlement to funding; however, continuous allocation is based on the urgency and individual need of the applicants. Thanks to support from the Free State of Thuringia and the Federal Foundation "Mother and Child – Protection of Unborn Life," the foundation can specifically assist pregnant women in difficult life situations and make a valuable contribution to a successful start to family life.
