Special Funding for Major Sports Projects

The special funding program for major sports projects in Styria is aimed at companies in the sports sector that wish to implement ambitious large-scale projects and sporting events. As a direct grant, the program supports the execution and further development of outstanding sports initiatives to enhance regional appeal and stimulate economic impulses. Applications are free of charge and straightforward via an online form, thereby lowering barriers for innovative engagement in the sports sector. With annual disbursements of up to €100,000 per project, the regional government promotes diverse concepts – from international competitions and youth camps to specialist conferences that connect sports, culture, and media. The initiative makes an important contribution to positioning Styria as a vibrant sports location and fosters exchange between local stakeholders and international partners.

For application review, invoices and payment confirmations (originals) must be submitted to ensure transparent processing. The legal basis is the Styrian State Sports Act 2015 in its current version. The funding runs continuously and offers companies maximum planning security for long-term projects. Experts from Department 9 Culture, Europe, Sports of the Styrian Regional Government accompany the process and ensure prompt handling. Through this special funding, sports entrepreneurs receive the necessary financial resources to realize innovative concepts, expand networks, and sustainably enrich the region’s sports infrastructure.
