Sports Support Funding

The Sporthilfe funding will implement a uniform “4-3-3” system starting January 1, 2025, which supports youth and elite athletes in Germany throughout all phases of their careers. With a mix of basic and situational grants, the concept enables transparent, performance- and potential-oriented support—from the first national team nomination to a successful career entry. In addition to monthly payments, individual components in the areas of education, health, taxes, media, and social engagement are included to sustainably strengthen the compatibility of elite sports and professional careers. The non-profit initiative places great emphasis on inclusion and needs-based analysis, ensuring that athletes in Olympic, Paralympic, deaf, and non-Olympic disciplines are supported equally.

Funding is provided to all individuals who are members of a (para-)Olympic squad or national team athlete. Evaluation is based on clear criteria such as performance, potential, and needs orientation. Applications can be submitted at any time and are processed digitally, allowing athletes to be supported financially and ideologically flexibly—from youth through potential and top teams to the alumni team. The German Sporthilfe Foundation enables sustainable career planning through its established support network: in addition to basic funding, elite programs and situational grants are offered to reward peak performances and secure professional development. This holistic approach creates ideal conditions for outstanding sporting achievements and personal growth.
