Description
The program supports German language courses from level A2 onwards for imams, prospective imams, and community leaders in Germany, sponsored by the International Islamic Foundation – Education and Culture (IISW). The aim is to strengthen communication skills with German society and the new Muslim generation, thereby deepening intercultural dialogue. Interested participants select suitable local language institutes themselves and continue their community service during the training. In addition to fully covering course fees from A2 to C2, the IISW provides a flat-rate grant of €100 for learning materials and examination fees. The project is open nationwide to private individuals with residence status and is offered on an ongoing basis.
100% of expenses for course fees, learning materials, and examination fees are funded. Admission takes place after reviewing the application documents and considering a balanced diversity of nationalities with a limited number of participants. Requirements include a residence permit in Germany, the exercise or planned exercise of duties as an imam or community leader, and the commitment to complete at least three further language levels. The following documents are required: copy of the residence permit or identity card, certificate of activity, certificates for prospective imams, reference from a mosque or Islamic association, placement certificate from the language school, cost estimate, completed application form, and a brief CV. Applications can be submitted at any time. Approval and payment of course fees are made directly to the language school; the flat-rate amount is transferred to the participants’ account.
