Description
The funding program “Urban Greenery, Noise, Radon/2023 Part A ERDF Funding” supports projects in Saxony that address infrastructure, environmental and nature conservation, urban development, as well as energy efficiency and climate protection. With funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the program aims to sustainably strengthen biodiversity-promoting green infrastructures in residential areas and implement noise protection measures on heavily trafficked roads. Measures to reduce radon concentration in existing buildings—especially in designated radon precaution areas—can also be supported with grants covering 65 to 80 percent of eligible expenses. Potential applicants include municipal authorities, municipal enterprises, non-profit organizations, recognized religious communities, as well as SMEs.
The focus is on three main funding areas: Firstly, projects that contribute to increasing biodiversity through greening of open spaces, façade, and roof greening are supported. Secondly, both active and passive noise protection measures, such as the installation of soundproof windows, construction of noise barriers, or structural interventions in interior spaces, are funded. The third focus is on measures to reduce radon concentration in existing buildings, where professionally qualified planning and an annual verification of the Radon-222 activity concentration form the basis of the application. Applicants must meet certain requirements and demonstrate that they are owners or leasehold rights holders, or have the corresponding consent of third parties.
Applications are submitted exclusively online via the funding portal of the Saxon Development Bank – Förderbank – and must be made before the planned measure begins. The program is primarily aimed at municipal authorities and enterprises but also offers interested non-profit organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises the opportunity to realize their investments in sustainable infrastructure and environmental protection measures. With a clearly structured application process and specific funding rates, this ERDF funding enables targeted support for innovative approaches to preserving and improving quality of life in Saxon communities and thus makes a decisive contribution to sustainable urban development.
