Description
The inpatient hospice “Haus am Wege” of the Emmaus Deaconess Institute in Niesky (Saxony) offers full inpatient palliative care for people with relentlessly progressive, incurable illnesses, as soon as home or outpatient services no longer meet the complex medical and psychosocial needs. Eligible for funding are private individuals insured with a statutory health insurance fund. A cost coverage of up to 95% of expenses – including qualified nursing and palliative care, medical supervision, psychosocial and pastoral support, as well as accommodation and meals – is provided through a subsidy from the health insurance fund. The support is ongoing and available to all affected persons regardless of nationality or religion.
To apply, a medical certificate confirming the necessity of inpatient hospice care as well as an application form jointly completed by the insured person and the referring physician are required. Additionally, the health insurance card, discharge letters or medical reports, current medication plan, power of attorney, living will, and a checklist for admission are needed. The documents are available for download and can be submitted at any time. Upon submission of all documents, the health insurance fund promptly decides on the cost coverage to ensure the smoothest possible transition into the lovingly designed environment of the hospice. Relatives and caregivers receive an information sheet with answers to key questions regarding the application process, cost arrangements, and length of stay. This service enables dignified support in the final phase of life and significantly relieves the home environment.
