Structural Support for Municipal Associations

The structural funding for municipal associations in Vorarlberg specifically supports small and financially weak municipalities as well as municipal associations in the construction, acquisition, and significant structural improvement of basic infrastructure facilities. With the aim of creating equivalent living conditions in the region, projects in the areas of compulsory schools, municipal office buildings, early childhood education and care facilities, cultural and sports venues, municipal vehicle fleets, and other municipality-relevant facilities are funded. The grant amounts to up to 35% of the eligible costs, but no more than €550,000 per project. Applications can be submitted continuously through the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government and are based on the population size and the financial capacity per capita quota of the applying entity. Municipalities with up to 1,300 inhabitants also receive a basic funding of 20%, while in the case of cooperation between several municipalities, an additional cooperation bonus of 15 percentage points is added.

Eligible are investments in construction and renovation that serve municipal public services, as well as the joint financing of infrastructure projects within the framework of municipal cooperations. Excluded, among others, are water supply and wastewater facilities, nursing and care homes, municipal roads, or parking lots. For the application, the completed application form, a project description, as well as proof of the population size and financial capacity per capita quota must be submitted. The funding measure is available on a permanent basis and is intended primarily to contribute to solving regional tasks more sustainably, strengthening rural areas, and ensuring a comprehensive supply infrastructure.
