Description

With the Environmental Funding – Aquatic Ecology, the State of Salzburg has been promoting the natural development of native flowing waters since January 1, 2011. As a continuously announced grant, this program is aimed at municipal applicants as well as competition participants who wish to implement measures in accordance with the federal guidelines for aquatic ecology to improve watercourse continuity and reduce diversions, backwater, or surges. The projects funded here make a central contribution to environmental and nature conservation as well as to increasing energy efficiency and climate protection in the Salzburg region. Special attention is given to the restructuring of morphologically altered stretches of flowing waters to strengthen ecological connectivity and biodiversity in the long term.

A prerequisite for funding is the utilization of the maximum possible support according to the Environmental Funding Act as well as strict compliance with all relevant legal regulations and funding guidelines. Applicants commit to guaranteeing the permanent maintenance of the funded facilities, submitting comprehensive accounting documents, and reimbursing received funds in case of misuse or non-implementation. Furthermore, written consent for the publication of the project name, address, and funding amount in accordance with data protection law is required. Since the grant is at the discretion of the competent state authority, careful project planning and transparent documentation are recommended. Applications can be submitted continuously and this funding specifically strengthens sustainable water structures in Salzburg.
