Description
In Salzburg, the funding measure supports non-profit organizations in providing low-threshold emergency accommodation for young people aged 12 to 18. This grant program enables the provision of a safe sleeping option around the clock (daily from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m.) on an open-ended basis, provided no alternative housing is available. The maximum stay is 14 nights per month to ensure a flexible and needs-based solution in crisis situations. The funding helps prevent imminent homelessness and represents an important pillar in the social sector of the state of Salzburg. Furthermore, the measure aligns with the thematic areas of social affairs, children and youth, as well as labor & social affairs, emphasizing long-term planning through ongoing application opportunities.
Within the framework of the emergency sleeping facility, essential basic care services are offered in addition to overnight accommodation: adequate personal hygiene facilities, a warm evening meal, and a balanced breakfast ensure the physical well-being of the participants. Professionally qualified staff provide socio-pedagogical counseling, crisis intervention, and needs-based referral to further support services. Through this comprehensive care, vulnerable youths can experience stabilization and receive support for the transition to long-term housing and perspective solutions. A funding prerequisite is operation by a recognized child and youth welfare organization and compliance with the general guidelines of the state of Salzburg. Thanks to the unlimited duration and guaranteed opening hours from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m., a reliable network is established to safeguard young people in precarious life situations.
