Description
Companies that have received a nomination or award within the framework of the German Short Film Award are offered a valuable opportunity with this grant to realize further film projects. Follow-up projects in the form of short films (up to 30 minutes) or feature-length films (from 79 minutes) that exhibit a clear German cultural influence and are intended for public screening in cinemas or at renowned film festivals are eligible for funding. Small and medium-sized enterprises can use the funds for production or the preparatory phase. The non-repayable support underscores the goal of promoting artistic diversity and sustainably strengthening the innovative capacity of German filmmaking.
A prerequisite for funding is proof of nomination or award at the German Short Film Award as well as the possession of all usage rights or an option agreement for acquisition. Project initiatives must not have been started yet. Numerous documents must be submitted electronically for the application, including the script or treatment, mood board, crew and cast list, director’s and production commentary, detailed production and financing plan according to the FFA scheme, as well as official certificates from the tax office and BAFA. The application must be submitted via the Federal Republic of Germany’s online portal no later than six weeks before the project start; the processing time is usually six weeks. This program sustainably supports artistic ambitions and provides nominated filmmakers with the necessary financial foundation for ambitious follow-up projects.
