Description

Throughout Austria, the Interview Allowance offers individuals in financial hardship a one-time grant to secure out-of-region interview appointments, job starts, or apprenticeship commencements. This funding type is provided as an unlimited cash or in-kind grant covering all verifiable travel, accommodation, and meal expenses up to the exhaustion of the nationwide funding volume. The continuous availability of the program since 2013 supports the targeted search for employment and training in the fields of Work and Work & Social Affairs without requiring additional personal funds. With a 100% funding rate, a noticeable relief is achieved for out-of-region appointments. The one-time application must be submitted in a timely manner before the interview, job, or apprenticeship start and ensures that additional financial expenses are reimbursed in a targeted manner.

The measure is managed by the Public Employment Service within the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, Section IX (AMS), which handles the processing. The requirements include proven financial hardship, appointments outside the residential area, as well as an active job or apprenticeship search, participation in preparatory meetings for training, or the first out-of-region job or apprenticeship commencement. Participants whose professional livelihood is at risk also benefit from the allowance. An application must be submitted once before the respective appointment via the AMS offices or the eAMS account. The direct form of funding aims to increase labor market participation and reduce unemployment. It has been continuously available since 2013 and remains open nationwide until the budget is exhausted.
