Description
Thermal Insulation in Existing Buildings promotes energy-efficient modernizations of single-family and multi-family houses in Hamburg whose building permits are older than 20 years. This continuously open grant program is aimed at owners as well as other legally entitled parties and jointly applying condominium owners’ associations. The focus is on measures to increase energy efficiency and climate protection: these include insulation work on walls, roofs, and dormers, replacement of existing windows, mandatory hydraulic balancing, airtightness measurements, and the use of sustainable insulation materials. Environmentally friendly materials receive special support. With funding rates between 40% and 75% of eligible expenses, as well as additional modernization bonuses for three or four measures, heat loss is sustainably reduced and climate protection goals are advanced.
Prerequisites for funding include hydraulic balancing according to the VdZ procedure B, involvement of professional construction supervision, and execution of all work by specialist companies. Separate funding rates apply for brick facades, quality assurance measures, and sustainable insulation materials. Applications can be submitted at any time via the electronic application portal of the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank – implementation may only begin after approval. For application submission, among other documents, the IFB confirmation from an energy consultant, invoices for the measures, airtightness certificates, U-value calculations, and certificates for sustainable insulation materials are required. This program supports owners in making their housing stock contemporary and climate-efficient.
