Description

The Willi Abts Award of the Albert and Loni Simon Foundation honors outstanding dissertations and comparable theses from Rhineland-Palatinate that address the self-determined living of older adults in a practical home environment. In memory of the former Mainz social affairs officer Willi Abts, the prize, endowed with 6,000 euros, recognizes scientific concepts that develop innovative and application-oriented methodological proposals. The aim is to enrich the increasingly important discourse on age-appropriate care and the promotion of self-determined lifestyles and to award forward-looking solution approaches.

Eligible for funding are doctoral candidates as well as authors of comparable theses who engage intensively with issues related to self-determined aging. A knowledgeable jury primarily evaluates the degree of innovation and the application orientation of the submitted concepts. Interested researchers can find detailed information on submission requirements, deadlines, and evaluation criteria on the Albert and Loni Simon Foundation’s website. The award strengthens the transfer of knowledge between research and practice and supports early-career researchers in sustainably improving the lives of older adults.
